Did you know you can meal prep an entire week of macro-friendly snacks in under 25 minutes?

Most people meal prep their meals and completely forget to prep their snacks. Then 3pm hits and you're standing in front of an open fridge grabbing whatever's easiest, not the veggies you have to wash and cut!

A macro-friendly snack isn't about cutting out a macro. It's about balance: protein, healthy carbs, and healthy fats.

As a registered dietitian, I love building snacks around a higher protein*, higher fiber* bread/baked good like Hero Bread because it lets you keep the foods you already enjoy while adding in what your body actually needs (and it actually tastes delicious!).

Why I love these:

  • Protein + Fiber
  • 25 minutes or less to prep (we’re all busy!)
  • Portion controlled from the start
  • Freezer- and fridge-friendly

Here are 5 of my go-to combos, all built on Hero Bread:

Turkey & Cheese Tortilla Roll-Ups

  • Prep time: 5 minutes, no cook
  • Hero Flour Tortilla: 7g protein, 16g fiber
  • Sliced turkey breast (2 oz): 10g protein, 0g fiber
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese: 7g protein, 0g fiber
  • Total: 24g protein, 16g fiber
  • Pro tip: swap in hummus and veggies for a lighter version!

Mini Bagel Breakfast Sandwiches

  • Prep 10 minutes, cook 10 minutes, freezer friendly
  • Hero Classic Plain Bagel: 19g protein, 21g fiber
  • Scrambled egg whites (½ cup): 13g protein, 0g fiber
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese: 7g protein, 0g fiber
  • Total: 39g protein, 21g fiber
  • Pro tip: cut in half and add fruit on the side for a lighter snack!

Everything Bagel Chips & Greek Yogurt Dip

  • Prep 5 minutes, cook 12 to 15 minutes
  • Hero Everything Bagel, sliced thin and baked: 17g protein, 20g fiber
  • Plain Greek yogurt (½ cup): 12g protein, 0g fiber
  • Total: 29g protein, 20g fiber
  • Pro tip: add lemon juice or seasoning to the yogurt if plain isn't your thing!

PB & Banana Toast Bites

  • Prep 5 minutes, cook 3 minutes
  • Hero Seeded Bread (1 slice): 6g protein, 12g fiber
  • Natural peanut butter (1 tbsp): 4g protein, 1g fiber
  • ½ banana, sliced: 1g protein, 2g fiber
  • Total: 11g protein, 15g fiber
  • Pro tip: keep components separate and assemble the morning of so the bread doesn't get soggy!

Turkey Burger Sliders

  • Prep 10 minutes, cook 15 minutes
  • Hero Hawaiian Roll: 4g protein, 11g fiber
  • Lean ground turkey patty (2 oz): 11g protein, 0g fiber
  • Total: 15g protein, 11g fiber
  • Pro tip: prep the patties in a big batch at the start of the week and mix and match toppings!

The Bottom Line:

Under-planned snacking, not snacking itself, is what leads to the 3pm crash. These 5 combos take 25 minutes or less and keep protein up, fiber up, and added sugar down.

The easiest way to hit your macros consistently isn't more willpower, it's having the right food already made and within reach.
